Metal contamination in incense cannot be detected by smell alone!
The only way to judge is by directly testing the composition of the smoke after combustion with instruments.
Good ingredients and raw materials do not necessarily mean a good incense! Rigorous production methods are key.
Shouxintang uses rigorous production methods, and the incense tested
is far below the CNS standard of 100 ppm!
Giving you peace of mind when using incense.

Children with higher blood lead levels are frequently found in homes where incense is burned
(Reported by Wei Yi-jia, Liu Li-ren, and Cai Wen-zheng). Worship doesn't guarantee protection! Preschool children whose homes frequently burn incense have higher blood lead levels than other children, and the long-term cumulative effects should not be underestimated.
Lead poisoning is highly dangerous and may impair intelligence.
The harmful effects of lead poisoning on the human body are mainly on the nervous system, including dysfunction of nerve functions such as weakness in the fingers, wrists, and joints. It may also cause high blood pressure or brain and kidney diseases. Recent studies have also indicated that blood lead levels in children below 10 μg/dL (micrograms per 100 milliliters) may have a negative impact on intellectual development.
Professor Huang Yao-hui of the Department of Public Health at National Taiwan University completed a preliminary analysis of blood lead concentration and influencing factors in kindergarten children in Taiwan in 2011. Blood samples were randomly collected from 934 children aged four to seven from 44 districts, cities, towns, and townships across Taiwan, and their environmental exposure was also investigated.
Huang Yao-hui's research found that the average blood lead concentration of preschool children across Taiwan was 1. The average lead concentration in the blood of those who do not burn incense or worship at home is 1.7 μg/dL; the average lead concentration in the blood of those who do burn incense and worship is 1.92 μg/dL; and the lead concentration in the blood of those who frequently burn incense and worship is as high as 2 μg/dL.
Shouxintang's motto is "Fine, natural, homemade incense." Its various incense products are widely loved and praised.
We are grateful for the guidance and support of our predecessors and mentors, which has allowed us to continue this excellent tradition for 50 years! Thank you!
In today's dazzling array of incense products, everyone claims to make them homemade, natural, and pure, etc.,
but unbeknownst to many, added fragrances and various non-fragrance ingredients permeate our incense consumption.
Gradually, inferior products drive out superior ones,
and bad practices become the norm. Is it really that difficult to find truly natural, high-quality incense?
Shouxintang puts its slogans into action. Besides rigorously selecting materials and using meticulous craftsmanship,
we further test our incense products using the strictest CNS standards!
Passing a series of professional and rigorous inspections, we are not just making empty promises.
Our 50 years of consistent practice have been powerfully proven!
